High, voluminous cheekbones have always been a sign of youth and beauty, but over time the cheeks begin to lose volume. As bone density diminishes and skin thins, facial folds and hollows become more pronounced, adding years to the appearance. As we age, the reduction of volume in the face can lead to changes such as the flattening or sagging of the cheeks. This is caused by facial fats moving position and a gradual reduction in collagen production, which can make the face appear aged.
WHAT IS CHEEK ENHANCEMENT?
Until recently, a malarplasty, or surgical cheek augmentation, was the only way to add volume to the cheek area. Today, a minimally-invasive, no downtime treatment is available using dermal fillers to provide volume, fullness and definition to the face. Cheek augmentation with dermal fillers is a quick treatment that restores height, definition and fullness to the cheek area. Cheekbones become more defined, the overlying skin looks tighter and nose to mouth folds are softened.

WHAT DOES CHEEK ENHANCEMENT TREATMENT INVOLVE?
You will have a face to face consultation with Dr. Aguilar to explain your expectations and be advised by Dr. Aguilar. The day of the treatment numbing cream can be applied and Dr. Aguilar will inject small quantities of lip filler into the cheek area.
Dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid (HA), are a gel based formula similar to the natural hyaluronic acid in the body. Hyaluronic acid is responsible for giving skin its smooth and full appearance. Injecting this gel into your cheeks restores volume, reduce wrinkles and give a fuller appearance. Also Radiesse is a good alternative to restore volume and stimulate collagen production. The dermal filler is injected gradually to place it above the cheek bone. Additional products may be applied laterally in the cheek to further enhance the contour. The result is immediate and typically lasts for approximately 18 months. However, due to temporary swelling from the procedure the end result becomes fully visible 3-4 weeks after treatment. Dr Aguilar will discuss a plan for follow-up treatments to maintain the result .
The treatment is tailored to your face shape and goals. The filler enhances the shape and definition of the cheeks whilst also giving a lift to the mid and lower face.
HOW SOON SHOULD I SEE THE RESULTS?
You will see the results of your treatment immediately. There may be some initially swelling and bruising, but this usually goes down without intervention within a few hours.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE LAST?
This procedure should take 30 mins including local anaesthetic applied to the cheek to ensure the area is numb.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE FILLERS AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The procedure takes a short time but if you are having several areas treated, you will require a longer consultation. This is assessed on an individual basis and results are dependent on the area treated. Fillers generally last from 6 to 12 months.
